Come join us as we guide you through our favorite pictures from Emma and Kevin's beautiful Van Wezel Wedding Photography. Against all the couple's assumptions, it was a perfect day. Well, of course they always knew their Wedding Day would be perfect, but between the red tide, the afternoon thunderstorms and Florida's generally persnickety attitude of late, the Bride and Groom knew that the possibility of having an outdoor wedding was a coin toss at best. But when the day of their nuptials finally arrived, the skies were clear, and Sarasota Bay was too! The happy couple couldn't have asked for a more perfect Florida day. I'd met with Emma and Kevin a week earlier to run through the details of the day, and as we sat at Starbucks sipping coffee and getting to know each other better, I was struck by how laid back this couple was. Red tide? Whatever. Rain? Pfft! They were getting married, all the rest was small stuff! It was a great reminder of what a wedding day is really about: you, the one you love, and all the people there to celebrate with you. And celebrate they certainly did! When I arrived in Sarasota at the Van Wezel to photograph their wedding, the beautiful Bride and her bridesmaids were already dressed and ready to jump right into the posed photos, with the Groom and his groomsmen not far behind. Not ones to miss out on a party, they wanted to get as many photos as possible taken before the ceremony so that they didn't have to miss even a minute of the cocktail hour and reception! Let me invite you to join me as we flip through my favorite photos of their Wedding day at the Van Wezel.
The wedding party and family darted back inside before the guests began to arrive. The couple's lovely ceremony took place out on the Van Wezel's dock, overlooking Sarasota Bay and the Ringling Bridge. The isle and ceremony site were marked simply with flowers on standing pillars and 3 musicians played acoustic music as the couple made their way down the isle. The sun began it's decent just behind the bride and groom, sparkling over the water as they said their vows and became husband and wife.
Held on the Terrace behind the Van Wezel in view of Sarasota Bay, the cocktail hour was a beautiful affair. The musicians continued their romantic tunes and the guests mingled in and out of the shade, wandering past the golden reflections and purple walls of the venue. The newlyweds and their guests mingled before a background juxtaposing nature and architecture, enjoying life and celebrating love.
The wedding reception began in the Van Wezel's Grand Foyer, and I photographed the Bride and Groom as they shared their first dance as the sun set over Sarasota Bay, visible through the window lined walls. Dinner was served, and the Newlyweds, lovers of good food, shared personalized seasoning with their guests so that they could take a taste of the wedding home with them. After dinner, the cake was cut and the real party began! The live band kept the crowd dancing all night (you can even head over to our Facebook page to spot a picture of me dancing with the bride's grandfather!) Guests laughed, danced, sang, and before the night was over, EVERYONE took a turn playing a solo on the inflatable guitars!
